Policing Styles Must Change
Profiling and the use of signage further victimizes and criminalizes SK8ERS presently in harm’s way— a reform of policing must be adopted reducing the proliferation of the violation of fourth amendment civil liberties.
An urgency to end LAW ENFORCEMENT harassing and targeting SK8ERS, capitalizing on abuse and victimization, must come to fruition.
Instituting programs such as Boards not Bracelets, we push to support mental health professional partnerships and ride-alongs, enabling alternative forms of policing, investing in the health and mental wealth of communal networks within the SK8 community.

This is an initial meeting among Us who fearlessly SK8ED the free streets of Covington, Latonia, Ludlow, Cincinnati, Erlanger, Elsemere, Ft. Thomas, Ft. Wright, & Ft. Mitchell— I have developed a framework that is eagerly being entertained by the city of Covington, Kentucky that creatively decriminalizes SK8BOARDiNG within city limits, not a mere Government Sanctioned Park, but designates iconic COViNGTON spots we brought up, attracting neighboring SK8ERS to our hood, attracted professionals to shoot footy for world renowned SK8 vids, and have fostered citywide spaces where we were denied the peace to go pro ourselves or even dream to become OLYMPiANS.
If done with the naturally therapeutic and communal values we harness in the SK8 community, this framework would work to protect SK8 spots as healing spaces where we can rip tranquilly city to city, but most important, protecting the spaces where we connect with our supporting networks within the community that aids in taking our pain and grief and transforming this into what is viewed by most as humanely impossible— SKATEBOARDING
We are survivors of many ailments that systematically has taken our homies, has left us to live with the lessons and trauma, or what we work through today in a system that has always sought to CRiMiNALiZE our therapy instead of nurture the spaces we found refuge, R.i.P the LOT. This is a chance to preserve our city as a safe healing space where SK8ERS can push from one block to the next without hassel, just as we push on for The Homies who we couldn’t reach in time.
