ADVICE FOR ANY CITY-GOER

Posted in Wanderings with tags , , , , , , , , , on November 30, 2012 by samuelbok

Every week I post a new piece of work and I always wish I could accompany the poem or prose with a photo that I’ve taken. Seeing as I never have the time between my writing, working, and the fact I don’t own a decent camera that would make the want easy to satisfy, I call on you, Dear Readers. Twice a month I’ll post a new poem calling out to Photographers to aid and abet my work. Don’t take photos? Get those hands working and draw or paint something fantastic for the site! Which receives over five hundred views a month and climbing! Simply email me at: samueltphillipsbok@gmail.com, send a message through Facebook or post the photo with the title of the work on my Facebook page where I can download the art and your work will remain on the front page of samueltphillips.com for two weeks! You dig! Now get to work! here’s the first poem for this segment I like to call: Wanderings.

Walk the street tired and angry,

like you mean it.

No one will think to give you business.

Go on without a shower,

and if you can manage it,

working back an unpredictable whiskey shit.

Leave the fine clothing

and the branded names

where you’re boarding nights away.

Stretch out silver tongued legs,

unleash a furrow of remorseless

chest hair at the button instead.

Go without demeanor or manners,

without the months rent in a money order

and a gambling-fist wrought spirit.

Take out the chance of dying a little

and you’ll be blown and eaten

by the clash of spermatozoon

and the irreversible arches of ovum

promoting the next embodied walk.
